What do you like best about Amazon Polly?

The way to handle Polly is pretty simple even when it uses an old XML format, it works pretty well and you can hear the voice even on phones or others pretty clearly. Sometimes it's not cheap but for projects that might not need to change the wording you can generate MP3 files, play them, and then just use Polly for specific dynamic sections, but remember that the voice still sounds really robotic, so maybe some of your clients are not going to like it.

Another thing that I like about Polly is that reacts really fast, the conversion from text occurs in less than a second even with big phrases, so your clients don't have to wait too long and it's already integrated into a lot of services like Twilio.

And in the end, it's covered by AWS.

What do you dislike about Amazon Polly?

I think the pricing it's something that I don't like too much, but with some "hacks" you can save some money.

Also, the way to handle it with XML looks pretty old, but it makes sense at the end as we have to "integrate it" with small sections of the phrases.

What problems is Amazon Polly solving and how is that benefiting you?

Where I work, we created a Bot that is dynamic for IVR, so the user can interact with him and the bot can help with some requests (like service requests, statuses, and others) and try to reduce the human interaction, we started using some MP3 files and some TTS systems like the Twilio default voice, but it sounds pretty bad sometimes, the switch between voices, and reading dynamic things like addresses and numbers was horrible, we switched to Amazon Polly and it solved almost everything in the best way possible.

Cost Structure: For extensive use, especially for larger projects or businesses, the costs can accumulate, making it a substantial expenditure.

Nuanced Inflections: Even though the voices are lifelike, there are still instances where certain inflections or tones might not sound entirely natural or capture the intended emotion.

Limited Customization: While Polly offers a range of voices and languages, deeper customization of voice characteristics or creating entirely unique voices isn't as straightforward.

Amazon Polly has been instrumental in the success of my project, which revolves around sending a substantial volume of voice notifications concerning health and insurance benefits. Here's how Polly is solving problems and benefiting my project:

Scalability: Given the sheer number of notifications I need to send, a manual or less sophisticated solution would be unsustainable. Polly's scalable infrastructure ensures that every user gets timely voice notifications without any hiccups.

Consistency in Communication: Polly provides a consistent voice output, ensuring every recipient receives information that is clear, standardized, and devoid of human errors that might arise in manual recordings.

Multilingual Support: Health and insurance benefits cater to a diverse audience. Polly's variety of voices and language options ensure that I can communicate effectively with individuals in their preferred language, enhancing user experience and comprehension.

Due to its nuances, we are also planning to use our own recorded voice talents.

I really like how Amazon Polly makes computers talk like humans. It sounds so natural, and you can choose different voices. It's great for making voiceovers for videos or making your apps talk. Super easy to use!

I don't like that Amazon Polly has usage fees, which means you have to pay for the number of characters it reads aloud. It can get expensive if you use it a lot.

Amazon Polly is a real problem solver! It's like magic for your computer voice. You know how sometimes computers sound all robotic and boring? Well, Amazon Polly fixes that.

With Polly, computers can talk in a more natural, human-like way. It's great for things like reading audiobooks, making your GPS sound less annoying, or even giving a friendly voice to your chatbots.

This helps me a lot because it makes interactions with technology more pleasant and easy to understand. No more struggling to figure out what a robotic voice is saying! Polly makes everything sound better and more human, and that's a big benefit.

What do you like best about Amazon Polly?

The ease of using the tool to generate AI Voice from text is splendid.

The support for SSML is also an added advantage.

The pricing is very nominal and you get a free tier subscription for a year (though with character limitations) but that's a boon to do R&D before implementing it in production.

AWS integration is very common and can be integrated easily with your product.

I've used this service a lot in the past.

What do you dislike about Amazon Polly?

I don't have anything that I dislike about Amazon Polly. If I have to mention, then maybe it would be the complicated per character pricing structure and fees for integrating with other AWS services.

I have used Amazon Polly to create Voiceovers for a lot of training videos for my company. This tool is fast and reliable. The voice coming from Polly is very natural sounding and sweet.

It is the best tool available right now with natural voices. We can customise almost everything that is the best part. Easy to use and implement. Text can br converted into speech that is very easy to understand for everyone. Customer Support is very responsive. It is so convenient to use that i almost use it everyday. Can be integrated with other amazon services or aws.

What problems is Amazon Polly solving and how is that benefiting you?

As a researcher i need to do awareness programs also in remote areas so this tool helped me alot to convert text into speech for better and easy language that people will be able to understand. Sometimes in presentation i used these voices to help make it more creative and interesting.
